Entrepreneurship empowers women to work on their own terms and become their own bosses.

According to a 2019 study by the UK Women’s Business Council, removing barriers for women entrepreneurs could boost the economy by an impressive £250 billion.

The University of Aberdeen is excited to host our inaugural Start Her Conference, an empowering entrepreneurship event designed to inspire women to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams, under the theme ‘Count Her In: Create – Cultivate – Celebrate’.

Hear from prominent female entrepreneurs, investors, and thought leaders from the University of Aberdeen and Aberdeen’s business community as they share their lived experience as women in entrepreneurship – to inspire inclusion, create awareness of support networks for women entrepreneurs, cultivate mindset required for success as a female founder, and celebrate achievements to inspire others to pursue similar paths.

Gain insights into their proven tools and strategies for launching and expanding your business, becoming a leader in your industry and the key factors that determine the successful development and inclusion of women within entrepreneurship.

    • Martina Chukwuma-Ezike, Rector, University of Aberdeen and Chief Executive of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation, Scotland’s only dedicated asthma charity.
  • Panelists:
    • Luci Carey – Lecturer in Law at the University of Aberdeen.
    • Mary Jane Brouwers – Director at Mint Ventures, a women-led angel investment group
    • Professor Carol Munro – Professor at the University of Aberdeen and co-founder of BrIgID Biologics.
    • Nassima Brown – co-founder and Director of Strategy at Fennex, an innovative tech company.
